The noise of a motor can be annoying when a winch is being pulled or anchored on anexpensive yatch. We have characterized the sources of motor noise and refined ourmanufacturing processes and design to minimize noise to a “whisper quite” level. For example, our commutatorsare lathe turned, and then carefully stoned. Stoning is a proven process thatensures the commutator brush interface is very smooth, minimizing the mechanical vibration that makes a motor noisy.


Corrosion protection:

The environment on board watercraft is humidity. Motors are also subject to salty water,and corrosion is a common problem. Corrosion occurs most often on the motorelectrical interconnects causing an intermittent connection. It also occurs on theframe of the motor.

We offer avariety of finish options from e-coating to powder coating to protect the motorbody and interconnects from direct salty sea water contact. These finish optionshave been severely tested and proven to ASTM standards.


Easy startup Bearings start up after idle for long time

Motors areoften not used for a prolonged periods while boats are anchored. When theystart up, a common problem is bearing failure. We design our motors withcareful calculation of interference fit for bearing selection. Bearings arepurchased with a specific “Radial Play” eliminating the possibility for the Brinell of Bearings. Others use“Off the Shelf” Bearings, that have either too little,or too much Radial Play, causing pre-mature Bearing failure.

DynamicAxial Pre-Load of Bearings insures long Bearing life under the most stringentworking conditions.


Highly reliable

All internal connections are “Fused” to eliminate high resistance points or “Hot Spots”. Less Voltage Drop at higher torqueloads, yielding higher speed and better efficiency. Others use mechanicalconnections that are the cause of high resistance points at heavy loading.


Higher efficiency:

Efficiency is very important forbattery powered motors. Higher motor efficiencies

prolong battery life. Our DC motorsare designed with state of the art laminations and cooling systems.We utilizecomputer aided simulation techniques to optimize the flux pattern.
